Ellie's Holiday Report

My name is Ellie and last year Buckingham & Greenacres group went to Wales and had fun at CLWYD Riding Centre for the Disabled.

We all had a number of rides to do with our ponies. The ponies were all very well behaved and so were we.

I went with my Dad Mark, and my horse was Teddy. He was 17 years old. Also with us were some of the helpers who help us in our sessions on Saturday mornings.

Alison Pocock organised the holiday and we are planning another trip there this year. Last year 7 riders went, including me, and we are hoping to increase the number this year.

We had to work very hard, we had to do all these things:

* First thing in the morning we went out to the field to bring our ponies in,

* We put the tack on the ponies and groomed them to make them ready to ride,

* We rode the ponies in the mornings, sometimes inside, sometimes outside,

* We had to lead them back to the field after riding them and unclip them so that they could relax!,

*We had to clean the tack and put it back on the right peg for the afternoon,

*After lunch we had another ride outside, it was usually raining! We had to follow a nature trail and pick out the animals we saw marked along the way, ticking them off and making their noises! This was fun!

* Before dinner we had to clean the tack again and put the ponies back out into the field.

* Then we had to get up early to do the same all over again! - more
